"Dancing on the Beach" #585

Available $950

24 x 36 Acrylic on canvas.

Inspired by my friend Esther, who choreographed this dance in response to The Creator of the universe. Esther and I became friends about eight years ago and I asked her if I could paint one of her professional dances she had recorded, but she said wanted to create something new. So we met at the beach at Fort Loramie back in June and Esther performed this amazing dance with some incredible leaps off of a loose sandy surface. This is #1 in my series "Dancing on the Beach"

24 x 36 Acrylic on canvas.

Award-winning painting received “Peoples Choice” at 2023 Riverside Art Center show.

I had so much fun painting this couple! They gave me a video of their wedding, and it was such a beautifully choreographed dance! They are from Poland and I met them at the Ann Arbor show, so they commissioned a painting of their wedding dance and let me choose whatever pose I thought was most aesthetic. I actually combined about four different poses to come up with the best composition!

Private collection of the couple.

no. 8 in my dance series. Playing with colors and bold brushstrokes to express movement of the dancers. My series is inspired by the Beautiful design God made for marriage…bringing one man and one woman together as one, as a lifelong commitment to reflect Jesus's commitment to never leave us or forsake us. I love watching newlyweds dance because their love for each other is so obvious! I love thinking of my love relationship with Jesus as a “dance” where He desires for me to let Him lead and then the dance becomes so beautiful! But so often I resist and try to do it my own way. But when I surrender my will and allow Jesus to lead me… He transforms me and makes my joy complete!

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas.

This is no. 9 in my dance series. I started this painting back in January and just finished it today! I had a lot of fun creating movement with my brushstrokes and I love the feeling of a "barefoot bride" dancing at her dream barn venue wedding!

What I loved so much about creating a dance painting is capturing the movement and the emotion ...all wrapped up in a beautiful moment!!!

Tristan and Amelia Thompson had the most beautifully meaningful wedding I've ever been to!!! I loved the way they wrote their own vows and washed each others feet as a symbol of their commitment to serve one another like Jesus served us by going to the cross for us.

no. 3 in my dance series. Playing with colors, pallet knife and bold brushstrokes to express movement of the dancers. Inspired by the beautiful wedding dance of our dear friends Nathan and Ginny. I loved watching them dance because their love for each other was so obvious! They moved so beautifully together. Ginny knew how to follow and allowed Nathan to lead. I love thinking of my love relationship with Jesus as a dance where He desires for me to let Him lead and then the dance becomes so beautiful! but so often I resist and try to do it my own way. But when I surrender my rights and allow Him to lead He transforms me and makes my joy complete!

Looking into their eyes transports me through time...makes me think about their stories and the legacy of each persons’ life.
I started working on this special commission in January and I’ve learned a lot on this 10 month journey... it was extremely challenging from a technical aspect, taking a 1930’s black-and-white photo and turning it into a color painting. But I got to learn a lot about their stories and the events that shaped their lives. I'm thankful for the way that God can take hard times and use it for our good to shape our lives in such beautifully unexpected ways.
